European Blues Challenge 2026 in Katowice!

European Blues Challenge 2026 in Katowice became one of the most important music events of recent years, with the competition itself forming the heart of an entire week filled with blues эмоtions. Over two days of showcases at Katowice Miasto Ogrodów, followed by the grand final at NOSPR concert hall, the European blues scene presented the full range of its diversity, energy, and artistic courage.

Artists from across Europe brought their own stories, traditions, and musical languages to Katowice. Each performance was different, each carried its own pulse and truth — from raw, roots blues, through modern fusions, to fiery, expressive interpretations. The audience responded with enthusiasm, while the jury faced an exceptionally difficult task. The level of this year’s performances was impressive, and the stylistic diversity showed just how widely and creatively blues is evolving across Europe.

This year, Poland was represented by Red. Chirowski & Pan Wydro, who delivered a performance full of energy and stage freedom, winning over the audience and proving that the Polish blues scene has its own distinct voice.

At the same time, the entire city — especially Staromiejska Street — was alive with blues. From April 11 to 19, 2026, Staromiejska 13 became a true center of European blues. For nine intense days, KATO Blues FACES and the surrounding area were filled with music, meetings, workshops, live broadcasts, screenings, and accompanying events.

It was a moment when Katowice — a UNESCO City of Music — fully confirmed its place on the European cultural map. Artists, blues scene representatives, journalists, international guests, and a large audience gathered on Staromiejska Street. The energy of those days, visible from morning until late at night, created the atmosphere of a unique celebration that became a showcase of the city.

After two days of showcases and an emotional final, the jury announced the results:
🥇 1st place – Adama Janlo Band (Norway)
🥈 2nd place – Gloria and The Doctors (Italy)
🥉 3rd place – Sir Joe Cocchi & Balta Bordoy – The Blues Way (Spain)
🏆 Solo/Duo Special Award – Tom Eylenbosch (Belgium)

The winners impressed both the jury and the audience with their originality, stage charisma, and musical coherence. Each awarded project brought something unique to the stage, confirming that European blues is alive, diverse, and full of fresh ideas.

Nine days of intense work, concerts, meetings, and promotional activities created a unique space in which Katowice could present itself as an open, creative city deeply rooted in music.

The project not only strengthened Katowice’s image as a UNESCO City of Music, but also contributed to building relationships, promoting local artists, and integrating the blues community from across Europe.

European Blues Challenge 2026 showed that in Katowice, blues is not just music — it is an experience, a community, and an energy that connects people beyond borders.
