The concert by Maciej Lipina, promoting his latest album “Południowy,” turned out to be not only a musical event, but also a multidimensional artistic experience.
“Południowy” sounded here as if it had reached exactly where it belonged — a space that carries the same kind of sensitivity from which this album was born.
Here, in the South, Maciej has been observing the world for years. This is where his lyrics are created, where emotions mature, where everyday life becomes inspiration. That is why at KATO Blues FACES the album did not just resonate — it found its natural breath.
This fresh, original, conceptual project is built around places Lipina knows best — places that are not only seen, but also felt. Musically, “Południowy” is acoustic folk-rock with influences of southern rock: warm tones, plenty of space, guitar-driven narration, and a distinctive, sincere vocal expression.
The lyrics are deeply personal — about searching for a place, truth, freedom, about struggles and what shapes a person. It is an album that does not speak about Silesia directly — it breathes with its rhythm, its calm, its raw tenderness.
An integral part of the project are the paintings by Sylwia Lipina, the artist’s wife. These are not illustrations, but an equal layer of the album. During the concert, her landscapes displayed in the background created a cohesive, emotional narrative with the music, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the world of “Południowy” with all their senses.
The evening carried an extraordinary sense of sincerity and intimacy. Lipina performed the entire material from the new album, but also reached for earlier songs — including the moving “Wysłałem dobro,” which sounded like a natural summary of the whole meeting. As if this one song gathered everything that happened between the artist and the audience.
